Khenpo Lobzang Tenzin was born in Bhutan. At the age of 9, Khenpo requested his family allow him to join a monastery. Under the guidance of Venerable Thrangu Rinpoche, he was fully ordained in 1985 and earned the prestigious degree of Khenpo (a PhD level in the Tibetan Kagyu Lineage). In 2004, Thrangu Rinpoche appointed him as the principal Professor and Director of all his monastic colleges. Khenpo remained in that position until relocating to the United States in 2013 to assist the inaugural three-year Mahamudra Retreat in Colorado. He has been assigned the task of teaching throughout Thrangu’s centers worldwide and is well known for his warm attentive teaching style and remarkable gift for translating teachings into accessible and clear English.
