Julie Brefczynski-Lewis completed her Ph.D. training at the Medical College of Wisconsin, studying attention using fMRI. She went on to study attention and compassion in long term meditation experts, with Richie Davidson at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Currently, her main research focus is examining how compassion meditation training can help relieve stress, especially the stress of difficult interpersonal relations. Julie developed a Smartphone app to assist in applying meditation techniques for daily stress relief, and is examining the neural, physiological and behavioral changes that may come from such training.
